The Career Fair is a platform where internationally active companies as well as small companies or consulting firms introduce themselves to graduates and students. Here you have the opportunity to look around for internships, working student activities and final theses as well as to find out about direct entry into the company. Even if you just want to look around to see which company suits you, our careers fair is the right place for you. This is your chance!
At the fair, you can make contacts, ask questions informally and talk to company representatives. Because personal contact says more than any application documents.

What are the benefits of visiting the Career Fair?

You have the opportunity to make contact with interesting employers from various sectors in a pleasant atmosphere and gain (initial) experience in the application process. You can find out whether the company is a good fit for you by talking to employees from Recruiting, the HR/Human Resources department and career starters. You can find out what the company expects from applicants and how to get started by talking to career starters in particular.

Personal contact always says more than just the application documents. Therefore, you are welcome to seek a personal exchange with the employees of the respective companies present.

For subsequent applications, you can mention your visit to our career fair in your cover letter. It is even better if you can mention the names of the people you spoke to at the fair in your cover letter.

At the fair, you can find out about the companies early on, what other companies are on the job market, what the requirements are for an internship, who is offered student research projects/bachelor's/master's theses, what requirements a company has or what additional qualifications are an advantage. You can also carefully approach the application process. Use the time to look around, have a few conversations and gain experience.

How can I prepare myself for the career fair?

Find out about the exhibiting companies in the run-up to the career fair. A very good source of information at this point is our career fair catalog, which is also available free of charge as a print version on the day of the fair. You will also find a lot of information on the Internet and careers pages of the respective companies.
The best way to prepare yourself is to attend a workshop or seminar the day before as part of our two-day career fair, which will also help you develop important soft skills. We also offer application document checks both on the day before and on the day of the fair.

The better you are aware of your own strengths, weaknesses, wishes and goals, the easier it will be for company representatives to respond to you.

What do I need to bear in mind?

Come to the fair in good time so that you can visit all the companies you want.

Companies have more time in the first few hours of the fair (from 09:30). Experience shows that it gets very crowded around lunchtime, so you should expect waiting times in front of the stands.

Clothes make the man?

There is no dress code at the career fair, but you should adapt your choice of clothing to that of the company in question. Especially if you want to introduce yourself directly at the stand. A blouse or blazer should be a matter of course for women and a shirt or even a suit for men.
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable in your outfit and stay true to your style!

What should I say at the booth?

First of all, don't worry, company representatives are people just like you and me.
Be friendly and behave as naturally as possible. Introduce yourself briefly during the interview and say whether you would like to apply or provide information. If necessary, think of a “hook” in advance.

Companies are interested in what you can offer them as an applicant. It's not just your academic achievements that count. It is your jobs, internships, hobbies or experience abroad that form your personality, which is important for the company.
Only if you know your skills will you be able to present them to someone else. Demonstrate your skills with examples where you have shown in the past that you actually possess these skills.

What documents do I need for the fair?

You do not need to bring any documents with you, as almost all companies prefer you to apply on their online platform or the General Data Protection Regulation does not allow otherwise. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to have one or two application folders to hand.

However, you should have your career fair catalog with all the notes and a notepad to hand so that you can keep business cards in a safe place and write down anything important after the meeting.
